State Web site covers Hawai'i ocean science

Advertiser Staff

The state has launched a Web site that will serve as a clearinghouse for the state's scientific accomplishments, businesses and discoveries in ocean science.

The site, HawaiiOceanScience.org, is intended to serve scientists, people interested in science and investors interested in emerging ocean technology.

It will have technical articles on ocean-related fields, including oceanography, aquaculture, fisheries, biotechnology, ecology, energy, engineering, geophysics, surveying, safety, water quality and mineral research.

The site will include press releases from the state's ocean industries.

Those visiting the site can sign up for e-mail alerts when new articles appear in their areas of interest.

"The ocean community in Hawai'i will be delighted with the Hawaii Ocean Science and Technology Web page," said Barry Raleigh, dean of the University of Hawai'i's School of Ocean and Earth Sciences.

"Investors looking for the 'next big thing' would do well to bookmark this site," said Bill Spencer, president of Hawai'i Venture Capital Association.
