BRENDA CUTWRIGHT, who has served as chief financial officer of Aloha Airlines for the past decade, has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. The promotion is part of a "stand-alone" business strategy that follows the unsuccessful attempt to merge Hawai'i's two leading interisland airlines. Cutwright, an 18-year Aloha executive, now heads a division that includes passenger services, in-flight services, catering, cargo and contract services, sales and marketing, and computer services.

Aloha Airlines also announced the promotion of OWEN SEKIMURA to vice president-finance and chief financial officer. STEPHANIE C. ACKERMAN was promoted to Aloha senior vice president — external affairs.

CHRISTINE CHUN, the former executive director of the Ronald McDonald House who directed the $5 million capital campaign to purchase the home and begin operations, has been named to head Aloha Harvest, the O'ahu nonprofit agency that works with hotels, restaurants and food distributors to provide food to the needy.

Chun was a consultant on human resources when she was with BCR/Right Management Consultants, which helped provide out-placement services to more than 260 displaced Liberty House employees.

She comes to Aloha Harvest at a time when social and economic conditions have placed heavy demands on the organization, which, since inception in 1999, has distributed about 775,000 meals to the hungry. Leftover perishable food, donated by 258 businesses and other sources — including Dunkin Donuts, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Punahou School, Sheraton Hotels and Starbucks — is distributed to 88 approved social service agencies.

ANTHONY C. OSTROWSKI, Finfish Program manager, and past program manager for two Oceanic Institute research areas at Makapu'u, has been named director of the United States Marine Shrimp Farming Program, a consortium of research institutions nationwide working to advance the U.S. shrimp farming industry in the global marketplace. The consortium, financed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, includes Oceanic Institute as well as Tufts University, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and Waddell Mariculture Center.

• ULI Hawai'i, the Hawai'i District Council for the Urban Land Institute, which works to raise awareness of local land-use issues among public officials, academics, schoolchildren and the public at large, has named CHRISTINE CAMP its new chairwoman.

Established in 1936, the institute has nearly 17,000 members, including developers, builders, property owners, investors, architects, public officials, planners, real estate brokers, appraisers, attorneys, engineers, financiers and academics.

Camp is managing director of Avalon Development and Consulting, a real estate development services company. The 18-year industry veteran is also newly elected vice chairwoman of the board of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i; immediate past president of Hawai'i Developers' Council, and board executive of the Hawai'i Community Development Authority, which oversees development of Kaka'ako and Kalaeloa (Barbers Point).

ULI Hawaii's other officers are assistant chairman Mark Hastert, who is chairman of Helber Hastert & Fee Planners; treasurer Norm Dyer, chairman of Gentry Homes; vice chairwoman of programs Jan Yokota, executive director of the Hawai'i Community Development Authority; vice chairman of sponsorship Peter Kaanapu, senior vice president of AECOM; vice chairman of communications David Miller, president of Architects Hawai'i, and vice chairman of membership James Stanney, senior manager at KPMG.

L.W. "BUZZ" PAXTON, who as senior vice president/corporate facilities for Bank of Hawai'i oversaw more than 100 buildings and 1.6 million square feet of bank facilities, will join Parker Ranch on Aug. 19 as vice president for property management. He will be responsible for all construction, commercial property and land management for the Big Island ranch, which encompasses more than 225,000 acres. Paxton is also former president of the local chapter of the International Facility Management Association.

MAKIKO NAGAKURA, formerly marketing coordinator with Atlantis Adventures, operator of Atlantis Submarines, has been promoted to director of marketing services.
