TIP-OFF
Christian rock shows coming Sept. 13 and 14

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Two Christian acts, part of the surge in popularity of Christian rock, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 and 14 at the Hawai'i Theatre. The groups are:

  • FFH (Far From Home), contemporary minstrels who have had a string of No. 1 hits. The combo features siblings Jennifer and Jeromy Deibler, bassist Brian Smith and guitarist Michael Boggs.
  • ApologetiX, the genre's answer to Weird Al Yankovic because of its notable parodies. The ensemble includes Keith Haynie, J. Jackson, Karl Messner and Bill Rieger.

They will be joined by three local acts:

  • Reign, a pop-blues-jazz-hip hop group, featuring Kale Chang, Loa Faimealelei, Tinifuloa Grey, Afatia Thompson and Kuhio Yim.
  • Tiffany Thurston, a gospel singer who was featured with the Ambassadors of Aloha European tour in 1999 and 2001.
  • Halau of New Hope, a group dedicated to performing hula in a Christian setting.
  • Tickets: $15, $25 and $35, on sale at the Hawai'i Theatre box office, as well as Showers of Blessings, Agape Shoppe, Logos Bookstore and The Giving Tree.

Reservations: 528-0506.
