What's open and closed on Statehood Day

Here's what's open and closed tomorrow, Statehood Day.

GOVERNMENT:

  • Federal offices: Open.
  • State offices: Closed.
  • City, county offices: Closed.

SCHOOLS:

  • Public: Closed.
  • UH: No classes; offices, and Hamilton and Sinclair libraries, closed.

PUBLIC SERVICES:

  • Libraries: All libraries closed; most reopen Saturday.
  • TheBus: State holiday schedule, with express service; slightly reduced weekday and express service for military bases and downtown. Call: 848-5555.
  • On-street parking: Free, except for Kalakaua Avenue metered stalls adjacent to Kapi'olani Park; holiday towaway zone parking as permitted by sign; municipal lots must be fed.
  • Traffic: No coning.
  • Trash: Regular residential and business rubbish pickup.
  • Landfills: Open.
  • Open Markets: Closed.
  • Municipal golf courses: Open.
  • City Recreation Centers: Open.
  • Mail: Regular residential, business and Express service; and mailbox pickups.
  • Handi-Van: Operating, 6 a.m. to midnight.
  • Humane Society: Open, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Blood bank: Dillingham headquarters open 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; downtown center closed.

FINANCIAL SERVICES:

  • Banks/savings & loans: Most open.
  • Stock market: Open, as usual.
  • Credit unions: Most open.

MUSEUMS/INSTITUTIONS:

  • National Memorial Cemetery (Punchbowl): Open.
  • Honolulu Academy of Arts: Open.
  • Arizona Memorial: Open.
  • Battleship Missouri Memorial: Open.
  • USS Bowfin: Open.
  • Bishop Museum: Open.
  • Botanical Gardens, including Foster Garden, Ho'omaluhia, Wahiawa & Koko Head botanic gardens: Open.
  • Contemporary (art) Museum: Open.
  • Hawaii Maritime Center: Open.
  • Honolulu Zoo: Open.
  • 'Iolani Palace: Open.
  • Japanese Cultural Center (and Historical Gallery): Open.
  • Lyon Arboretum (UH): Closed.
  • Mission Houses Museum: Open for tours.
  • Polynesian Cultural Center: Open.
  • Paradise Cove Lu'au: Open.
  • Queen Emma Summer Palace: Open.
  • Sea Life Park: Open.
