Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police said a man was murdered early this morning near Laniakea Beach Park and they are asking for the public's help in getting information about the crime.

Police said there was a birthday party last night at a residence near the beach park at 61-631 Kamehameha Highway. Around midnight about 30 people crashed the party and fights broke out. There were fist fights and people throwing beer bottles at each orther, police said.

Several young men mobbed the victim, who evidently was stabbed. Another man also evidently was stabbed. The suspect then fled.

Emergency rescue workers arrived at the scene at about 1:30 a.m. and found one dead victim. The other victim was taken to a hospital with stab wounds and was listed in serious condition.

The victims have not been identified.

Police said witnesses were not cooperative.
