Tadashi Sato to sign book today

Today only: Renowned Maui artist Tadashi Sato will be signing copies of his newly released exhibition catalog, "Tadashi Sato: A Retrospective" at The Contemporary Museum in Makiki Heights from 2 to 4 pm. Today's event coincides with the final day of his retrospective exhibition at the museum and the release of the long-awaited catalog which includes full-color pictures and an essay by Marcia Morse. Applying for an art grant: The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts is launching a series of grant proposal workshops for those who wish to apply for 2004-2005 grants in culture, the arts, history and or the humanities. To receive a copy of the Request for Proposal application form, call 586-0302. Workshops, which explain the proposal process and offer individual application assistance are: April 27, King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel; Aug. 30, Honolulu Academy of Arts; Sept. 3, State Building, Lihue; Sept. 5, State Building, Hilo; Sept. 10, Maui Arts & Cultural Center; Sept. 13, Kalanimoku Building, Honolulu; and Sept. 14, Kualoa-He'eia Ecumenical Youth Project, Kahalu'u. Sessions start at 9 a.m. except for Hilo, which begins at 9:30 a.m. and last through the day.
