Search continues for missing boater

Advertiser Staff

The week-long search for missing boater Jason Henderson resumed this morning, as the Coast Guard dispatched two C-130 Hercules long-range aircraft to scan the waters as far as 330 miles west of the Big Island.

The Navy is assisting with a P-3 Orion aircraft, and the Coast Guard is continuing to broadcast alerts to mariners.

Henderson was reported missing by his father-in-law, Ronald Noah, to Hawai'i county firefighters at 10 p.m. Aug. 14, after he failed to return from a planned one-day trip.

A fisherman was the last to spot Henderson, about a half mile from shore, at 6 p.m. Aug. 14.

Today's search is expected to cover 40,000 square miles, compounding the 180,000 square miles searched so far.
