Reyn's honors Elvis with aloha shirts
In another nod to the passion of Elvis fans upon the 25th anniversary of his death, Reyn Spooner, in association with Elvis Presley Enterprises, has expanded its line of collector's edition Elvis Presley-themed aloha shirts, including one called what else? "Blue Hawaii." The shirts are made of Reyn-Ion, a 100 percent rayon fabric, and are priced at $77.50. Designs feature a mix of reproductions of album covers, movie posters, photos and tropical designs. Available at Reyn's stores or online at www.reyns.com.
A wave of information at 'Crush' premiere
Surfing and the prevention of teen pregnancy was an unusual combo that attendees of a "Blue Crush" premiere probably didn't see coming. But the event at Signature Dole Cannery turned out to be the ideal place to inform Hawai'i's youth about teen pregnancy and STD/AIDS prevention because about 200 of the 300 in attendance were teens.
The Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawai'i, state Department of Health and Teen Intervention Program set up informational booths at the theater to spread the message: "Live Your Life ... Before You Make One."
Event sponsors chose to use the movie's surfing theme to emphasize the importance for Hawai'i teens to have active and healthy personal interests. For more information, call Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies at 951-5805
