DAVID A. BUEHLER, vice president for Bank of Hawaii in Guam, has been named district manager for the bank's American Samoa operations effective Sunday. Buehler will be responsible for the bank's three American Samoa branches. He served as branch manager in American Samoa from 1989 to 1991. With Buehler's appointment, American Samoa will be aligned with Bank of Hawaii's West Pacific Division. Buehler joined Bank of Hawaii in 1987 as a business banking officer at the bank's main branch in Honolulu. Prior to that he was with Citizen's Bank & Trust in Wausau, Wis.

REYNOLD KAM, project manager for KD Construction Inc., has been named vice president of the construction company. Kam, who joined the firm in 1994, will be responsible for the projects in progress at Hickam Air Force Base. KD Construction Inc., established in 1988, is a general contracting firm with experience in dealing with a variety of work ranging from building construction to mechanical and electrical work.

RONALD LANGSTON, national director of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency, was the keynote speaker at the Minority Business Development Center of Honolulu's annual Minority Enterprise Development Week awards luncheon, held Aug. 2 at Hale Koa Hotel. It was the first time a national director visited the island to promote minority business development.

SHERRI OKINAGA has been named director of alumni relations for Iolani School. Okinaga's previous positions include Japanese language teacher at Iolani, sales representative at IBM, systems analyst at Kamehameha Schools and international marketing manager for AT&T Wireless Services in Redmond, Wash. She is a 1985 graduate of Iolani. Okinaga replaces Chris Shimabukuro, also a 1985 Iolani graduate, who joined Iolani in 1990. He moves into the position of development director, overseeing annual giving, major gifts and planned gifts.

GLEN SHIMABUKURO, director of revenue and financial analysis at Castle Resorts & Hotels, has been named director of information systems at Castle. Shimabukuro will be responsible for the reservations system, data management and the corporate computer network.

CLAYTON TAMASHIRO has been named manager of the human resources department at Kuakini Health System. Tamashiro will oversee the daily operations of the department, assist departments in addressing issues relating to the challenges facing the healthcare industry's work force, and concentrate on building an enlightened department that will meet the needs of Kuakini as a virtual healthcare organization.

• The Association of Legal Administrators, Hawaii Chapter, has elected BLANE FUJIWARA of Char Sakamoto Ishii Lum & Ching, as its president for 2002-03. Other officers include: vice president, ANN HISAMOTO of Cades Schutte Fleming & Wright; secretary, LINDA HAMMEL of Oshima Chung Fong & Chung; treasurer, LORI ISAKI of Reinwald O'Connor & Playdon.

• CTA, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner/Certified Technical Education Center, has hired SONG CHOI as director of corporate communications to head the unification of its four divisions under the CTA corporate identity. Choi will oversee all corporate communication operations for CTA's Education, Development, Engineering and Staffing divisions.

  • ANDREW RIEHEMANN has been appointed engineering manager for CTA Engineering. He is responsible for CTA's staff of engineers who maintain the CTA corporate network, satellite offices and remote client networks on O'ahu and Maui. He will also act as an instructor for CTA Education, specializing in the Windows 2000 curriculum as well as Systems Management Server.
  • HERB DUDLEY has joined CTA Education as a Microsoft Certified Technical Trainer. Dudley brings more than 22 years experience in the computing industry to CTA, he is the founder of PixiNet and most recently worked as an implementation engineer for Digital Island. Dudley will be specializing in Linux/Unix, Microsoft Windows 2000 and security classes.

• Prince Resorts Hawaii has announced a restructuring in the management of the Mauna Kea Resort. Central to this move is consolidation of the core hotel operations under CHARLES PARK, general manager of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, who has also been named general manager of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. Park's title is general manager of Mauna Kea Resort hotel operations.

  • TED MCANEELEY, former general manager of the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club, has been named general manager of Mauna Kea Resort golf operations and residential services. He will be responsible for overseeing operations of Mauna Kea Golf Course and Hapuna Golf Course, and will also be in charge of homeowner relations and services for the resort's more than 200 private residences.
  • PAUL YOKOTO, general manager of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, has been appointed general manager of the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club.
