Man, 73, struck by van's mirror

A 73-year-old man was critically injured today when he was struck on the head by the outside mirror of a van on the McCully Street overpass.

A 73-year-old man walking along the McCully Street overpass is in critical condition after being struck by the outside mirror of a van. Police say the man stepped into the street.

The man is in critical condition with head and neck injuries at The Queen's Medical Center.

Police said the man was walking makai on the overpass when he stepped onto the roadway. The 5:50 a.m. incident forced the closure of the McCully Street overpass for about an hour.

Three injured in Kailua accident

Three people were injured last night in a collision between a stolen car and a pickup on North Kalaheo Avenue in Kailua.

A Pearl City man, 37, was driving the stolen 1999 Mercury Cougar when it crossed the center line into the path of a 1997 Ford Ranger truck at 10:37 p.m, police said. He is listed in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center. The truck's driver, a 26-year-old Kailua man, is at Queen's in serious condition.

Police said a woman, 41, who was in the car, fled. She was later found and taken to Castle Medical Center. Her injuries are not serious, police said.
