Major brush fire scorches Wai'anae area

Ten Honolulu Fire Department companies today battled what firefighters described as a "significant" brush fire between Ala Akau and Ala Hema in Wai'anae.Three tankers and the HFD helicopter were being used. The fire was reported at 10:11 a.m. and declared under control at 11:27 a.m.
The fire is near an apartment complex, but no evacuations had been ordered by 11 a.m. Also, no injuries had been reported.
