Movie openings

"Baran": From Iran, a tale of a lazy young man who suddenly is forced to work; he discovers a new co-worker is a girl. In Farsi and Dari with English subtitles. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (PG).

"The business of fancydancing": A successful Native American poet returns from the big city to the reservation to attend the funeral of a childhood friend who has committed suicide. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (Not rated).

"Feardotcom": Stephen Dorff and Natascha McElhone star, as a cop and a public health inspector, and Stephen Rea plays the host and torturer on a Web site with a deadly punishment for those who surf it. "Les Destinees Sentimentales": A long, attentive epic about the span of a life and the seasons of a love. Charles Berling stars as the son of a French china-manufacturing dynasty. In French with English subtitles. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (Not rated).

"PossesSion": A visiting American (Aaron Eckhart) finds a letter suggesting that Queen Victoria's poet laureate had a secret affair with a 19th-century feminist and lesbian. He takes the letter to a British expert (Gwyneth Paltrow), and together they track down clues. Opens tomorrow at Dole Cannery 18 Theatres, Ward 16-Plex, Kahala 8-Plex. (PG-13).

"Sunshine State": John Sayles sets his story on Plantation Island, Fla., where established ways of life are threatened by outside developers — who are welcomed by some of the residents. Opens tomorrow at Varsity Twin. (PG-13).

"Swimming": A coming-of-age tale set in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Young Frankie is a waitress in her family's restaurant; she has an extrovert best friend, a new gorgeous waitress colleague and a blossoming love with a hippie-esque young man. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (Not rated).
