Celebrations

Gene and Dorothy Ikeda of Hawai'i Kai celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner given by their daughter, Alison Puu, their son-in-law, Darrell Puu, and their grandson, Brice Puu, on Oct. 19 at Natsunoya Tea House. The Ikedas were married Oct. 18, 1952, in Honolulu, and have one child and one grandchild. Gene is a retired bellman and delivery man. Dorothy is a retired bookkeeper.

Yuriko Evelyn Hirata Kadekaru of Honolulu celebrated her 90th birthday with a luncheon given by her children, Vivian Inoue, Karen Kadekaru and Vernon Kadekaru, and son-in-law Roy Inoue on Aug. 10 at the Hale Koa Hotel. Kadekaru was born Aug. 4, 1912. She and her husband, Richard "Mutt" Kadekaru, have four children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Samuel T. and Hideko K. Watanabe of Wahiawa celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a luncheon given by their children, Wendall Watanabe, Derek Watanabe, Jay Watanabe and Ann Nishida, on Oct. 5 at the Honolulu Country Club. The Watanabes were married Oct. 5, 1952, in Honolulu, and have four children and one grandchild. He is a retired engineer. She is a retired secretary.
