• Bank of Hawai'i (BOH) has promoted a number of employees to residential loan officers: WIL CHANG, business banking officer since June, 2000, now assigned to the BOH East O'ahu Loan Center; DAVID ELLIS, most recently sales manager, main branch, now assigned to the West O'ahu Loan Center, and MERILEE HENDRICKSON, most recently product manager, Mortgage Banking Division, now assigned to the Downtown Loan Center.

• Central Pacific Bank and Bank of America veteran ERNESTO LUNG has been named controller of Hawai'i Pacific Federal Credit Union, overseeing all accounting and financial operations, and budgeting and regulatory reporting. The credit union, which began as Sears Honolulu Federal Credit Union, serves small businesses and employees in the Ala Moana and Kapi'olani vicinity, through offices on Kapio'olani Boulevard, and at Sears stores at Ala Moana and Pearlridge shopping centers.

• City Bank has hired JOHN P. BENNET as vice president and loan officer, responsible for the bank's commercial and real estate financing. Bennet was previously president of JB Capital LLC, and comes to City Bank from Bank of America, where he was vice president of commercial real estate.

• Award-winning chef REY DASALLA, former executive chef for the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel and John Dominis Restaurant, has been named to the same position for the Radisson Waikiki Prince Kuhio Hotel and Trellisses Restaurant. Dasalla won Chef of the Year and Chefs De Cuisine of Honolulu awards and serves on the advisory board of Kapi'olani Community College's Food Service Department.

• Also named at Trellisses Restaurant is new restaurant manager VIDAL DEMONTI. Demonti recently served as maitre d' for The Plaza Club of Honolulu, and has served in executive positions with a number of local eateries, including Prince Kuhio, Ciao Mein and Hanohano Room.

HORST G. BRANDES, professor of civil engineering at the University of Hawai'i, has been elected president of the over 1,000-member American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Hawai'i Section. Other officers include WESTLEY K.C. CHUN, president-elect; KEITH K. NIIYA, vice president; WALTER A. BILLINGSLEY, secretary; and LORI FONG, treasurer.

• Over 18-year Marriott veteran JANETTE R. GOODMAN, most recently director of human resources at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort, has been named resident manager of the JW Marriott 'Ihilani Resort and Spa. She replaces Edgar Gum, now general manager at Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club on Kaua'i. Goodman will oversee all aspects of the Ko Olina resort's room operations, including guest services, housekeeping, laundry, loss prevention and spa operations. She has also worked at the Kaua'i Marriott Resort and Beach Club.

MARLA KELLY, veteran of executive-level sales and operations executive positions with Sheraton Hotels in Hawai'i, Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel and Hyatt Regency Waikiki, has been named director of sales for the Hawai'i Convention Center. This includes oversight of two newly created sales department divisions, national sales and sales central. Kelly was most recently director of sales for Get2Hawaii Inc.

CLARENCE SAKAMOTO, former account executive at Crossmark/Rainbow Sales and Marketing and account manager for Kraft Foods, has been named new Hawai'i account manager for Hawaiian Natural Water Co. He will oversee all local accounts, retail account service, chain and independent headquarter calls, feature ad planning and annual sales planning.
