Infotech expo opens tomorrow

The Hawaii Information Technology Exposition and Conference, one of the state's premier technology events, will be held this week at the Hawai'i Convention Center.

The two-day event offers business, government agency and university officials seminars, exhibits and demonstrations on information technologies, including data management, small-business solutions, networking, wireless technologies, security and cost control. Exhibitors will include Novell, Compaq, Xerox, Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Honcad, Oceanic Time Warner Cable and Pacific Direct Connect.

Among highlights of the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, will be tomorrow's keynote address, "How to Capture Greater Business Value from your IT Investment," by Dan Branda, U.S. vice president of HP Services Americas.On Thursday at 1:30 p.m., panelists will address "Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning Post 9/11 — Have You Thought of Everything?" Participants include Scott Reynolds, senior systems engineer of Honcad Corp.; Greg Whalen, senior consultant at Computer Associates; Jay Desai of Network Appliance; Paul Jacobsen, HP channel storage specialist; and David Alvarado, professional services principal at Storage Tek.
