And now, the real race for Congress begins
Without a doubt, Ed Case's victory in Saturday's special congressional election sets him up as the frontrunner for the more serious election to come, in January.
But it would be a mistake to consider that Jan. 4 election a foregone conclusion. A rather lengthy list of candidates is in that race to serve the full two-year term in the U.S. House that Patsy Mink won posthumously Nov. 5.
The voters will want to hear from these candidates on a range of crucial national issues, ranging from the war on terrorism through health insurance, prescription drug costs, welfare reform and new federal education law and military spending.
Over the next month, we expect to hear and see a spirited, issue-focused campaign for this important federal office.
