Services held:
Former members of the Asahi baseball team and friends, will hold a service to honor former Asahi team owner, ANGEL MAEHARA, 83, who died Oct. 1, 2002. Maehara was a prominent Hawai'i businessman, owner-president of Air-Flo Express and Hawaiian Papaya Co., a sportsman and adviser to former Mayor Neal S. Blaisdell. He was killed in an industrial accident at Honolulu International Airport. He had purchased the Asahi baseball team from Mackay Yanagisawa in 1955. Services will be held 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11, at Makiki Christian Church. No flowers. Information: 488-1349.

Retired Honolulu Fire Department Chief RICHARD "DICKIE" YOUNG, who was a rookie firefighter when Pearl Harbor was attacked in 1941, died Nov. 23. He was 85. See story.

WILLIAM FERNANDEZ ALFONSO, 88, of Honoka'a, died Nov. 23, 2002. Born in Kalopa, Hawai'i. A truck driver retired from Hamakua Sugar. Survived by son, Johnelle; daughter, Sharon Toko; brothers, George and Alfred; sisters, Victoria Silva and Gloria Rezentes; two grandchildren. JAMES HAROLD BRYANT, 76, of Wai'anae, died Nov. 25, 2002. Born in Honolulu. A staff sergeant retired from the U.S. Army. MICHAEL JAMES CHONG SR., 89, of Honolulu, died Nov. 25, 2002. Retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a construction representative.
