Two critical after Maui shootingMaui police have opened an attempted murder investigation after a double shooting in Lahaina last night.
Police said witnesses heard gunshots and a woman yelling at around 8 p.m. at the Hale Royale condominium at 3788 Honoapi'ilani Highway.
Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound to the face. She was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.
Police arrested a male suspect several hours later with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was also listed in critical condition at Maui Memorial.
Elderly man hit by car in Kalihi
A pedestrian struck near the intersection of Judd and Liliha streets this morning was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.
The elderly man was reportedly crossing the street at the time of the 7:30 a.m. accident, police said. Kalihi police were still investigating at the accident scene late this morning.
No injuries in two armed robberies
Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred overnight.
There have been eight armed robberies or attempted robberies on O'ahu since Sunday.
At 9:10 last night, a man walked into a Waipahu ice cream shop with a gun and demanded money from the store employees.
After taking the money, the man ran away, police said. No one was hurt and no arrests have been made, police said.
Another incident occurred at 1 a.m. today at a King Street bus stop near Pua Lane.
A man in his 20s and a woman believed to be his girlfriend were arguing at the Shell gas station near Pua Lane when the man walked up to two men, ages 21 and 33, waiting at the bus stop.
The man then showed a small- caliber handgun to the older victim and demanded his watch, police said. The gunman then threatened to shoot the younger man, police said.
The victims ran off, and the man and his girlfriend disappeared into the Mayor Wright Homes area, police said.
Police say no shots were fired.
