Man found dead in airplane restroom

A 76-year-old man found lifeless on Philippine Airlines Flight 105 to Honolulu is believed to have died of natural causes.

The passenger's body was found in the plane's restroom yesterday while the aircraft was in mid-flight from San Francisco, police said. A doctor aboard the flight unsuccessfully attempted to revive the man, who was declared dead at 1:06 a.m.

The city Medical Examiner's Office has yet to release the man's name pending notification of next of kin. Authorities do not suspect foul play.


Windsurfer rescued 8 miles off Maui

A windsurfer from Canada who was missing overnight Tuesday was found yesterday morning about eight miles south of Maui, the Coast Guard said.

Jrazyna Pstrong, 46, of Vancouver, British Columbia, was released after being treated aboard the Coast Guard cutter Assateague, which picked her up at about 7:20 a.m., said Chief Petty Officer Tyler Johnson.

Pstrong was found floating on her board about a mile north of Molokini crater. She was reported missing Tuesday evening. Crews, including a 25-foot boat from Maui, an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Barbers Point, a C-130 Hercules airplane, the Coast Guard Cutter Assateague, a small boat and helicopter from the Maui Fire Department and a local vessel had searched for Pstrong.


Police investigate two armed robberies

Police are investigating a robbery and attempted robbery that occurred early yesterday morning.

At 12:40 a.m. yesterday, three men approached a vehicle waiting at a stop sign at Kahakai Drive in Waikiki, with one of the men wearing a ski mask and dark clothes and gloves and flashing a silver semi-automatic handgun to the driver and demanding money.

The driver reversed his car to escape and the robbers left the area, police said.

Also yesterday at 2:45 a.m., a man robbedanother man at knifepoint at a bank automated teller machine at 1580 Kapi'olani Blvd.

The 39-year-old victim ran away, while the robber fled in a white SUV driven by a female, police said.

The ATM robber is described as in his 30s, 5 feet 10, 250 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He wore a white and red long-sleeved shirt and black beret, police said.
