Rose will be director of golf at Mauna Lani

Advertiser Staff

Dennis Rose, who left his native Big Island after more than 25 years as director of golf at both Mauna Kea and Waikoloa, will leave the Turtle Bay Resort to become the director of golf at the Mauna Lani Bay Resort beginning Dec. 15.

"A, it's an opportunity to move back to the Big Island and B, Mauna Lani is arguably one of the top resorts in the islands," said Rose, who will replace the retiring Buster Bustamente.

Hired two years ago by Turtle Bay to oversee its Senior PGA Tour (now Champions Tour) event, Rose will help the owners in their search for his successor.

"We want to continue with what we started at Turtle Bay," Rose said.

The Turtle Bay Championship has two more years on the contract with an option to continue.
