Four from Hawai'i get honors in volleyball

Four Hawai'i Division II women's volleyball players, including three from third-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i, have been named to the 2002 Daktronics NCAA Division II Pacific Region All-Star Team.
Hawai'i Pacific senior middle blocker Susy Garbelotti and BYUH freshman outside hitter Yu Chuan Weng earned first-team honors.
BYUH's freshman middle blocker Chun Yi Lin and senior libero/defensive specialist Leiau Meatoga were named to the second team.
The players are selected by the sports information directors at the region's 28 schools. The region includes teams that compete in the California College Athletic Association, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the PacWest Conference.
Players selected to the regional first team will be listed on the Daktronics All-America national ballot. The All-America team will be announced Dec. 18.
BASEBALL
UH camps coming up: The University of Hawai'i's winter baseball camp will be held in two sessions after Christmas.
The pitchers/catchers camp will be held Dec. 26-27 and one for hitting Dec. 28-29 at Les Murakami Stadium. The camps are open to participants ages 8-18.
UH head coach coach Mike Trapasso and his assistants, as well as high school coaches and professional scouts, will conduct the camp's clinics. Participants will learn the same techniques and mechanics taught to UH players. There will be drills, lectures, demonstrations, a video review and tips on conditioning techniques.
Each camp costs $110, which includes a T-shirt. Each camp is limited to 200 participants. Lunch is not included. The camps run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Registration is 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the first day of each camp. Campers will be grouped by age and skill level.
Campers must bring their own gear (gloves, caps, catching equipment, bats). Baseball pants or shorts are acceptable. Campers are responsible for their own lunch.

TENNIS
Mentors needed: The Hawai'i Pacific Tennis Foundation is looking for mentors to serve as big brothers or big sisters to its Hui participants.
A mentor's job is to be friend, counselor and mentor to one Hui participant. The Foundation asks that each mentor keep weekly contact with the participant.
In the new year, the foundation will have Hui chapters and juniors in Wahiawa, Honolulu and Kailua.
