UH to meet Tulane in Hawai'i Bowl

Advertiser Staff

Tulane University will meet Hawai'i in the inaugural ConAgra Foods Hawai'i Bowl on Christmas Day.

Tulane secured the bid after fellow Conference USA member Cincinnati defeated East Carolina last night in a nationally televised game. Cincinnati (7-6) will play North Texas in the Dec. 17 New Orleans Bowl.

This week, Hawai'i Bowl officials said UH's opponent would be tied into the result of the Cincinnati-East Carolina game. If Cincinnati had lost, South Florida, which is scheduled to join C-USA next year, would play in the Hawai'i Bowl.

UH (9-3), which closes its regular season against San Diego State tonight, clinched a bowl berth Nov 2 after defeating San Jose State, 40-31.
