Light up the town with food, music and (of course!) Christmas lights
The really big show begins at 6 p.m. as the Honolulu Boy Choir sings "Honolulu City Lights" and the giant Christmas tree is lit up; the Electric Light Parade also starts its journey from A'ala Park, along King Street and ending at Honolulu Hale. At 6:25 p.m., Mayor Jeremy Harris will flip the switch that turns on 10,000 lights.
Admission is free, but folks are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots campaign. It's the season of giving, after all, and there's nothing quite like lighting up a child's smile. Drop off toys at Santa's Stage.
If you can't make the opening festivities, you can still enjoy the lights through Jan. 5. Exhibits and a wreath display in Honolulu Hale will be available for your viewing pleasure 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily through then, too. A series of Christmas choir concerts in the building's courtyard begins at 6 or 7 nightly through Christmas. 523-2489.
