More Lalea residents move
Residents of 16 Lalea condominiums in Hawai'i Kai that are endangered by the threat of rockslides and boulders have now moved to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel, officials said yesterday.
Many other units have been vacated with residents using temporary lodging with family and friends.
Castle & Cooke and Kamehameha Schools also announced that a special cellular telephone hotline has been set up.
Residents of the two condominium buildings were urged to leave their homes immediately on Friday after structural engineers determined that loose boulders, some weighing as much as 100 tons, could come crashing down the hillside behind the structures.
Officials said they plan to meet today to evaluate the accommodation plan and to try to come up with a more long-term solution.
