Teen assaulted; man surrenders
An 18-year-old woman escaped serious injury yesterday when she was thrown off the Wilson Bridge near the entrance to Wahiawa town by her boyfriend.
The woman managed to grab the man, also 18, with whom she was arguing at about noon as she was going over the railing, police said. The man and woman went over the bridge together and landed on the ground about 5 feet below.
Witnesses told police the man started to choke the woman but fled as people started gathering on the bridge.
The man surrendered to police at 12:40 p.m. and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The argument involved allegations by the woman that her boyfriend stole money and jewelry from her to buy drugs, police said.
