No injuries after landing Boeing catches fire

Associated Press

An engine of a noncommercial Boeing 747 jet caught fire today at the Honolulu International Airport after landing and stopping at the end of the runway, Federal Aviation Administration officials said.

Emergency airport crews extinguished the blaze and none of the 23 people onboard were injured, FAA spokeswoman Diana Joubert said.

The GE Aircraft Express plane is owned by General Electric and was returning from a test flight when the fire broke out at 4:08 p.m., Joubert said.

It was not immediately known what sparked the fire.
