Police arrest alleged purse thief

A man who allegedly punched a 92-year-old woman in the head at Salt Lake Shopping Center before fleeing with her purse yesterday was captured after a confrontation with police.The man, 29, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and outstanding court warrants. Patrol units that responded to the 8:20 a.m. robbery found a man who fit the suspect's description nearby. He was arrested at Ala Ilima and Ala Lilikoi after a foot chase.
The victim was not seriously injured, police said.
