Boeing 747's engine catches fire

Advertiser Staff

An engine of a noncommercial Boeing 747 caught fire yesterday at the Honolulu International Airport after the jumbo jet landed and stopped at the end of the runway, Federal Aviation Administration officials said.

Emergency airport crews extinguished the blaze. None of the 23 people on board was injured, FAA spokeswoman Diana Joubert said.

The GE Aircraft Engines plane had returned from a test flight when the fire started on a Boeing 777 engine on the left wing, Joubert said.
