Hotel tower to be renovated

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. will spend $8.2 million to renovate the Royal Hawaiian hotel's Tower Wing.

Renovations will start next March and be completed by early 2004. Starwood, which manages the Royal Hawaiian, said the Tower Wing will be given a more contemporary Hawaiian look. The tower's 166 guest rooms will be renovated with new wood and rattan furniture, Hawaiian weave wallcovering and granite floor tile and bathroom counters.

McDonald's to get Kenny's site

McDonald's will take over the Kenny's Burger House site at the Kamehameha Shopping Center in Kalihi to make room for the chain's 79th restaurant in Hawai'i.

Kenny's Burger House is set to close Saturday. It is affiliated with Kenny's Coffee House & Restaurant, but that longtime favorite will not close. No opening date has been set for the McDonald's.
