Three 'Bows are All-Region

Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i outside hitters Kim Willoughby and Lily Kahumoku and middle blocker Lauren Duggins were named to the AVCA All-West Region volleyball team yesterday.

The 12-member All-West Region team is one of eight named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The West Region consists of the Western Athletic, Big West and Mountain West conferences.

Willoughby, the WAC Player of the Year, was a repeat all-region pick. She also was an All-American last season as a sophomore. This season she is ranked in the top 10 nationally in kills per game (6.25) and aces per game (0.76).

Kahumoku, who sat out last season, was an all-region selection as a sophomore in 2000. She ranks in the top 20 nationally this season in kills per game (5.29).

Duggins, a junior, made the all-region team for the first time. She is ranked in the top 25 nationally in blocks per game (1.41) and hitting percentage (.405).

North Carolina, Hawai'i's first opponent in the Central Regional, placed outside hitter Laura Greene and setter Eve Rackham on the All-East Region team.
