BYUH to graduate 234 students
Brigham Young University-Hawai'i will graduate 234 students from 33 countries today in ceremonies beginning at 9 a.m. at the Cannon Activities Center on the BYUH campus in La'ie.
The graduates also represent 19 states.
While 70 graduates will receive bachelor of arts degrees, the other most popular fields include bachelor of science in business, with 60 graduates; bachelor of science in computing/mathematics, with 37 graduates; and bachelor of science with 32 graduates.
Army team removes bomb from campus
LIHU'E, Kaua'i The Army's explosive ordnance team from O'ahu was summoned yesterday after a Kaua'i High School student brought a homemade bomb to school. The incident was reported at 9:20 a.m. by Kaua'i Police Department school resource officer Paul Applegate, according to a county news release. Police removed the bomb from the campus and the military team safely disposed of the device.
Details about the bomb and the student's status were not available.
Maui girl injured after car hits her
HONOKOWAI, Maui A 5-year-old girl was flown to a Honolulu hospital last night after being hit by a car in Honokowai.
The girl suffered serious head injuries in the 3:15 p.m accident, which occurred when a vehicle was turning into a driveway.
No one witnessed the incident, officials said, and the driver reported only hearing a thud. Details were not available.
