Universe of artistic inflatables opens at Bishop Museum
Bishop Museum exhibition manager Shanti Freed walks in "Arcazaar," one of the Luminaria sculptures made by Architects of Air, of Nottingham, England. The inflated sculptures made of PVC designed by Alan Parkinson have been displayed worldwide since 1992.
Before it was inflated, the sculpture looked like collapsed tents on the museum lawn, where the finished display can be seen through Jan. 5. Within 20 minutes after setup began, the air sculpture "Arcazaar" was ready to receive visitors in its tunnel-filled interior. Photos by Bruce Asato The Honolulu Advertiser |
