Pedestrian killed on H-3 Freeway

A pedestrian was killed early today on the H-3 freeway, forcing closure of the roadway to Kane'ohe-bound traffic for a number of hours.

Police said a man was apparently hitchhiking when he was struck by a vehicle near the shoulder of the freeway, about two miles before the tunnel, at about 6:10 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The freeway was closed to Kane'ohe-bound traffic but reopened sometime before 12:25 p.m.
