Barnwell names new president

Barnwell Industries Inc. announced yesterday the promotion of Alexander C. Kinzler to president and chief operating officer. Kinzler will also continue as the company's general counsel.

Kinzler succeeds his father, Morton H. Kinzler, as president of Barnwell. Morton H. Kinzler, who has served as president and chief executive since 1971, will continue as CEO and chairman of the board.


A&B to buy back shares

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. said it plans to buy back as many as 2 million of its shares through Dec. 31, 2004. The repurchase program replaces one set to expire at the end of this year, the company said in a statement. Shares of Honolulu-based Alexander & Baldwin rose 22 cents to $25.25 as of 4:05 p.m. New York time in Nasdaq Stock Market trading.
