Construction executive Robert 'Joe' Muller dead at 62

Robert "Joe" Piercy Muller, a Honolulu construction executive, died Dec. 14 in Seattle. Muller, 62, had been battling cancer and was at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center when he died.
Muller was a civil engineer and owner of the R.P. Muller Corporation. The construction firmed focused on commercial projects, including the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) laboratory at Keahole on the Big Island.
Muller was born in Honolulu and was a three-sport athlete at Punahou School. He attended Stanford University. After college, he was an F-102 fighter pilot with the Hawai'i Air National Guard and worked as a pilot for TWA for a decade.
Muller is survived by his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Barbara "Baba" Muller; parents Robert L. and Lorna N. Muller; and brothers Lee and Michael.
A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Outrigger Canoe Club. Aloha attire. No flowers.
