The O'ahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division was full of talented and experienced girl volleyball players this season, returning all seven first-team all-stars from last year.

And the best of them all proved to be Kahuku senior Tuli Peters, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter. Her all-around play — hitting, blocking, digging, passing and serving — led the Red Raiders to an 8-2 regular-season record and earned her East Player of the Year honors.

Last season's Co-Players of the Year, Moanalua senior middle blocker Patti Hardimon and Kalani sophomore outside hitter Tamari Miyashiro, repeated as first-team selections. So did seniors Janice Fonoti of Farrington and Meghan Watson of Kalaheo.

Miyashiro helped the Falcons rebound from a loss to Kahuku and capture the East's No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a 9-1 regular-season record. Hardimon helped the Menehune (9-1) defeat Kahuku and tie for the East championship.

Other players making the first team are Kalani junior Marisa Okamoto, Roosevelt junior backrow specialist Shellane Ogoshi and Moanalua senior setter Ashley Gandauli.

Farrington's Jenic Tumaneng was named Coach of the Year after leading the Governors to an upset at Kahuku and into the OIA playoffs.
