Utility gets new board member

Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. and Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc. said yesterday that Shirley J. Daniel has been elected to their boards of directors, effective yesterday.

Daniel is a tenured professor of accountancy at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's College of Business Administration and also serves as managing director of the Pacific Asia Center for Entrepreneurship and E-Business and director of the Pacific Asian Management Institute.


CPB increases cash dividend

CPB Inc., holding company of Central Pacific Bank, said it will increase its cash dividend to 11 cents in the fourth quarter, up from 10 cents in the previous quarter. The dividend will be payable Jan. 24 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 31.

CPB is Hawai'i's fourth-largest financial institution.
