Pink's show a 'go'

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Despite the arrest of her drummer on Sunday, pop singer Pink will still get the party started today at the Blaisdell Arena, the last stop of her six-month world tour.

Drummer William Johnson was arrested at Honolulu airport when a routine passport check revealed a warrant for his arrest for grand larceny in New York, said Deputy Attorney General Neil Murakami. Johnson was released after posting $50,000 cash bail, officials said.

Johnson was in court for an extradition hearing yesterday and is scheduled to appear at another hearing tomorrow before heading back to New York.

Lawyers for Johnson said the charge stemmed from problems with car payments and that the car has since been returned.

Jack Utsick, the promoter of Pink's concert at the Blaisdell, said he didn't believe the legal problems would have any bearing on the concert. "He'll be there. He'll be performing. And the show's going on as scheduled," Utsick said.

Pink, known for dance pop tracks such as "You Make Me Sick" and "Get The Party Started," makes her Honolulu debut tonight.
