Hawai'i Pacific routs Northwest Nazarene

Marvin Noble scored 17 points and Hawaii Pacific turned up the intensity in the second half to pull away from Northwest Nazarene, 69-50, last night in a non-conference basketball game at the Blaisdell Arena.

Nic Walters added 15 points and Nate Block 11 for the Sea Warriors (4-1), who were coming off an 11-day layoff.

Noble scored 10 points and HPU shot 50 percent (13-for-26) in the first half to take a 32-24 lead.

The Sea Warriors outscored the visiting Crusaders 17-6 to start the second half. Block's two free throws made the score 49-30 with just under 12 minutes to play.

Walters' 3-pointer with a little more than four minutes remaining gave HPU a 65-41 lead.


HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

• Oregonians prevail: Lincoln of Portland, Ore., outlasted Montepaschi of Siena, Italy, 80-75, in double overtime last night in the Iolani Prep Classic.

Neal Zumwalt scored 30 points and Omar Leary 25 for Lincoln, which made 34 of 44 free-throw attempts.

Simone Berti scored 20 points and Andrea Dolfi 18 for Montepaschi.

Kaimuki played Montrose of Rockville, Md., in the final game of the day.

Earlier, Radford defeated St. Louis, 40-36, and Kamehameha edged Leilehua, 37-35, in consolation bracket games.
