Artificial turf won't be installed by Pro Bowl

By Brandon Masuoka
Advertiser Staff Writer

The artificial turf installation for Aloha Stadium won't be ready by the Feb. 2 Pro Bowl and will be delayed until April 1, according to stadium authority member Robin Campianiano.

The reasons for the delay are that more time is needed to install the turf and weather concerns. The installers need good weather to lay down the FieldTurf, a type of synthetic grass.

Installation had been scheduled between the Hawai'i Bowl on Dec. 25 and the Pro Bowl. The total estimate for the project is $1.3 million.

More details to come.
