Longtime editor and reporter Sandra Oshiro has been named The Honolulu Advertiser's business editor, to succeed Judi Erickson, who will leave the paper later this month.
Oshiro, a 26-year veteran of The Advertiser, is currently assistant managing editor for new media. In that role, she was responsible for development of the newspaper's Web site, honoluluadvertiser.com.

She has experience as a business reporter, assistant city editor, editorial writer and computer-assisted reporting specialist at The Advertiser.
She is a graduate of Farrington High School, the University of Hawai'i and has a master's degree from the Columbia School of Journalism.
Oshiro also is a founding member of the Hawai'i chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association and recipient of a Fulbright Journalism Fellowship in Japan.
"It's a compliment to our newsroom that we could call from within on another first-rate leader to give vision to this crucial coverage area," said Advertiser Editor Saundra Keyes.
Keyes also praised Erickson's leadership. "Judi is a fierce competitor committed to breaking stories first and an ethical journalist committed to reporting stories fairly," Keyes said. "She has made us an essential read for people who care about Hawai'i business."
Erickson, who has been business editor for five years, said she is moving to the Mainland to pursue other opportunities.
"I have been privileged and honored to have been a part of this newspaper and to have worked with so many talented people for the past five years," she said. "It's also been a privilege to have covered Hawai'i's economy and business community over the years through tremendous change. Leaving is one of the most difficult things I have done, but I look forward to future challenges."
Oshiro's appointment is effective Dec. 30.
