Nativity scene dramatized in full regalia

"Bethlehem," a dramatization of the birth of Christ presented by Leeward Community Church, involves more than 300 participants who are all members of the church. Nearly 500 members attend weekly services. The show has the most people in a live nativity scene in the state, said Gail Wakatake, director of children's ministries. "We just got our whole church involved," she said. "It's a really big deal." The church has presented the free show every other year since 1987, with this show marking its ninth year. The production, which also has live animals, including sheep, horses, goats and chickens, plays at 7 and 8:30 p.m. today and tomorrow. For more information: 456-1340.
