ROSE MARIE ALVARO, a dark-haired beauty whose striking poses on a series of Hawai'i Visitors Bureau posters lured millions of visitors to post-statehood Hawai'i, died Wednesday in Straub Hospital. She was 59 and suffered from breast cancer. Alvaro is survived by her sister, Margaret Apao and brother, Richard Alvaro of Honolulu, and numerous uncles, aunties, nephews and nieces.

ABIGAIL "ABBIE" KA'EHUOKALANICUTTER DUKE, 89, of Kona, died Dec. 5, 2002. Born in Honolulu. A homemaker. Survived by son, John; daughter, Carol Helekunihi; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Private service. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary-Kona.

MARVIN JOYCE FORD, 77, of Kea'au, Hawai'i, died Nov. 25, 2002. Born in Kellogg, Idaho. A boilermaker for the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Survived by daughter, Marva Clark; hanai family, Ben Mead, Annette Mead, Ben and Lucas Mead. No service. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary-Hilo.

JACK ATCHERLEY GARCIA, 79, of Waimanalo, died Dec. 11, 2002. Born in Honolulu. Retired from Dillingham Shipyard.
