Aki enters not-guilty plea via video

Christopher Clayburn Aki pleaded not guilty today in Circuit Court to a charge that he murdered Kahealani Indreginal, the 11-year-old half-sister of his fiancee.

Aki, 20, is charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection with her death.

Aki, who was accompanied by several guards, entered his plea via video teleconference from O'ahu Community Correctional Center.

Judge Dan T. Kochi set his trial for the week of Feb. 24, 2003.

Kahealani disappeared Dec. 10 from her Makalapa housing complex and her body was found Dec. 13 by a hiker along the 'Aiea Loop Trail.

Aki is being held in lieu of $5 million bail.
