• The MINORITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER OF HONOLULU will offer weekly orientation sessions to minority business owners and prospective entrepreneurs. The sessions, 9-10:30 a.m. every Tuesday in the center's offices in Suite 2506 of the Executive Center, 1088 Bishop St., will offer advice on business startup, marketing plans, loans, employee handbooks and access to capital. • A construction materials remnant Tent Sale will be one of the highlights of the Ninth Annual BIA Home Building and Remodeling Show, sponsored by the Building Industry Association, Feb. 6 to 9 at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Available will be discounted building and remodeling supplies from local construction companies and suppliers. The event will run throughout the show. Also scheduled as part of the annual showcase of new building industry products and services will be seminars on such topics as remodeling, buying a house, ADA compliance and special financing options for seniors; and a "Steel-Man Competition," that will pit steel framing contractors against one another in a demonstration of skill, performance and quality.
