Accidents injure woman, tie up traffic

Advertiser Staff

A 63-year-old pedestrian was critically injured today when she was struck by a car on North King Street and Richard Lane in Kalihi. The car, believed to be a Mercedes, fled the scene of the 6:09 a.m. collision, police said.
An Imperial Trucking flatbed truck lost half its load of lumber in the median between east and west bound lanes of Nimitz Highway near Bishop St. and Bethel St. fronting Aloha Tower, forcing closure of lanes nearest to the incident. Workers began to clean up the mess, re-stacking the lumber on pallets to load it up on the trailer.

The woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center.

Two of four lanes on Gulick Avenue were closed for most of the morning while police investigated the accident.

Traffic was also slowed on Nimitz Highway and Bishop Street near Aloha Tower today when a tractor-trailer spilled its load of lumber onto the roadway at 8:32 a.m.

One eastbound and one westbound lane were closed.
