Holiday Tech Fair to showcase jobs

Advertiser Staff

The state's High Technology Development Corp., in conjunction with TechJobs Hawaii and a group of private schools, will host the third annual Holiday Tech Fair from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hawai'i Convention Center, Ni'ihau Ballroom, third floor.

The free event, which is open to the public, will highlight technologies being developed in Hawai'i and will also serve as a job recruitment opportunity.

Holiday Tech Fair 2002 is a joint effort coordinated by HTDC, with the support of TechJobs Hawaii, Kamehameha Schools, Punahou School, Iolani School and Mid-Pacific Institute. TechJobs Hawaii is a consortium of private-sector technology companies whose mission is to raise awareness of high technology job opportunities in Hawai'i.

Kamehameha, Iolani, Punahou and Mid-Pacific Institute participate in the event by inviting their senior-level students and returning graduates to attend.

In previous years, the Holiday Tech Fair attracted from 500 to 1,000 job seekers. This year's event will showcase 20 companies from high-tech sectors, including biosciences; information technology; earth, ocean and space sciences; defense and dual-use technology; and healthcare technology.
