"All or Nothing": Mike Leigh's film looks into a South London public housing project, and finds loneliness, desperation and a stubborn streak of spunky humor. He centers on the Bassett family: the father (Timothy Spall), drives a minicab and is marooned in depression; the mother (Lesley Manville) is a grocery clerk and hardly has a home life; and the two unattractive kids, a daughter who retreats to romance novels, and a sullen, hostile son who rarely leaves the couch. Opens Friday at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (R).
