Gold bracelets sought in girl's murder

Police have stepped up the hunt for murder victim Kahealani Indreginal's six gold bracelets.

Retiring Criminal Investigation Division commander, Maj. Darryl Perry, confirmed that homicide investigators are checking out anonymous tips about the jewelry.

The follow-up may involve search warrants but Perry would not confirm a source report that police recently obtained a court order to search a residence for the jewelry.

"I believe there are witnesses with knowledge out there that, for whatever reason, may be apprehensive about coming forward with information," said Perry, whose last day of work at HPD will be Monday.

Christopher Clayburn Aki has been charged in the case and has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge. Kahealani, 11, was found murdered on Dec. 13 after she had disappeared from her home in the Makalapa housing complex.

"In the post-killing investigation, we haven't ruled out anything," Perry said. "We're looking at every possible scenario." Finding the jewelry would "tie up loose ends," Perry said.
