Tonight's Must-See

"Kennedy Center Honors," 8 p.m., CBS. Each year this elegant ceremony offers great moments. The honorees — the best in the American arts — are first-rate. Each gets an eloquent tribute, usually with superb performances. Tonight's honorees include movie star Elizabeth Taylor and classical conductor James Levine. The others are singer-songwriter Paul Simon, Broadway's Chita Rivera and movie and stage powerhouse James Earl Jones.

Of Note

Football marathon, ESPN. Football fans don't have to wait for the weekend to catch sports — not with three bowl games waiting. At 8 a.m., the Houston Bowl has Oklahoma State and Southern Mississippi. At 11:30 a.m., the Independence Bowl has Mississippi State and Nebraska. At 3 p.m., the Holiday Bowl has Arizona State and Kansas State.

"Blade Runner" (1982), 4:30 p.m., SciFi Channel. Here's one of the best science-fiction films ever. The story — Harrison Ford as a detective hunting deadly androids — is intelligent and the direction by Ridley Scott is stunning. Many of the supporting roles were brilliantly cast with Rutger Hauer, Daryl Hannah, Sean Young and William Sanderson.

"MASH: 30th Anniversary Reunion," 7 p.m., Fox. Here's a rerun of the special celebrating a great TV series.

"He Sees You When You're Sleeping," 7 p.m., Pax TV. This is a quick rerun of Sunday's movie, which is based on a Mary Higgins Clark mystery. An angel watches a child at holiday time. Erika Eleniak, Cameron Bancroft and Greg Evigan star.

"48 Hours," 7 p.m., CBS. To match the classy Kennedy Center Honors that follow, CBS has profiles of Kirk and Michael Douglas, Julie Andrews and Lauren Hutton.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. In this rerun, a 6-year-old boy is abandoned in an emergency room. After another crisis, cops realize they must find his mother quickly.
